Links for Kids
Thought I would share some of my kids favorite links. I don’t let them play very often but when they do, here are a few places you’ll find them.
Millsberry, which I think is a very neat idea. My daughter likes it alot. We were told about it by some of my High School nieces who enjoy playing it themselves. When you sign up, you pick who you want to be and look like, you pick an address. Millsberry is the town and its always changing with the seasons and special games. You play games to earn money, then you can go into town and buy clothes, new hair-dos, decorate your house. You can even have a yard sale where other people can buy your unwanted stuff, but the nice thing is you may click on the name of the other person, see their house but there is no way to contact them, know who they are or view any personal information, so its safe. You also have to buy food and feed your person as well.
Here are a few more,

Also they are really into Ralph’s WorldCD’s right now. I even like it. Our favorite is Green Gorilla, Monster and Me.

Childrens Art Class
Over the weekend the kids wanted to play school????? After a few pages of a workbook, many checks for bad behavior. I declared it time for art class. It was warm and sunny so we took our supplies and headed outside.

I love the mommy and baby pig picture. It’s probably hard to see because of the light pink she used.

And this little speckled eggy guys is so cute.

Does it get any cuter?

Do you see a theme here? A mommy and tiny baby bird. Did you notice that the mommy bird is blue and the egg is blue but the chick is yellow.

Making soft toys
I was digging through some old boxes of fabric trying to Use What I had, when I found this little guy.

I had totally forgotten about him. He was an experiment I did when I was about 17 years old. I was trying to help my mom come up with some new ideas for her craft show. I think I will take this rabbit idea and give it a new make-over. Look at the blah colors of the fabric I used, probably scraps that where on the floor. We would work late into the night, craft supplies all over the counter-tops, filling everywhere. The night before the show rush as we packed the car as full as it would go. I miss living close to my mom. I miss being able to help her. Here are just a few of the other things she has made in the past. My moms style is much different than my own. She loves primitive county. The older, the better. Dark woods and calico prints. Even though our taste my be completely opposite, she can decorate an amazing room. She has a nack for it. There is a Mrs. Giraffe somewhere, I’m assuming at the bottom of the stuffed animal box and I think I’ve showed the Santa before on my old blog but her beautiful work is worth showing again.

A few wonderful finds
Over the weekend a few of us girls headed over to our favorite Thrift Store. We all came away with a few good finds. I was the lucky one with this beautiful comforter. Its a King size, great condition, so soft and thick that I have to take it to the laundry mat to wash and I love the colors. Did I mention I really like robins egg blue, right now.

I also found these cute cups, a very soft blue and among the other things not pictured and several cute outfits for the little ones. A few that I sadly messed up, by washing one of Allys pink skirts with them. Well, it bled… making the white parts…pink. And one of the white dresses was so darling. Does any one know a trick for removing red/pink dyes from clothing? The articles are not all white, so bleach wouldn’t work, but I guess anything is better than how they looks now.

The Hunt

USE WHAT YOU HAVE.
We also had a birthday this week. All my gift wrapping supplies were more for women or girls so I decided to use our weekly newspaper comics. It adds a little fun and humor to the present. I just attached a quick tag on this one, but I have in the past used a comic character as a gift tag. You cut it out and glue in onto card stock. Hope everyone is having a most wonderful weekend.

bird nest
My first attempt of the crocheted baby booties, which you can view in the previous post was OK, but only to realize after finishing my first one, that the pattern was made for a newborns foot. I threw that one aside to start on a new pair which could fit the little feet that they were intended for. After wondering what happened to it, thinking it was my forgetfulness and I had just misplaced it, that’s when I found it here.

Â
Birds are busy in the spring time and anything is game for nest making. There was this lady and (yes this is a true story) she was my sisters, friends, grandmother. Have I lost ya? Anyhow, she decided to decorate her porch for Easter with a basket which was filled with colorful fake Easter grass and goodies. Someone keep coming and taking some of the grass. She thought it was local kids being ornery, only to later find a bird nest near by that was built out of the exact same kind of grass that was missing from her porch. I didn’t get to see it but my sister said it was an odd sight. Funny and colorful but odd.

embroidery thread winders and pincushions

After seeing these simply cute craft supplies, I had to make a few of my own. Here’s a couple of the first ones I finished and I have several more in the works. They have also inspired several craft projects. I think I may have to open an esty shop as they are over flowing.

I have also finished my crochet class, sadly missing the last one. But I’m now ready to go out in the real world and crochet. I other words, I can read a pattern and understand what others are talking about in stitches and terms. And let me say there is some super talented people out there! I have also been working on some projects in This Book. And I love it! Just darling. The only down fall is, I don’t know how to knit! This is a must on my list-learn to knit. And some of my favorites (pictured below) are ~sigh~ knitted. I have crocheted some booties and decided to add a simple ruffle to a pair of sock to give them a little some thing extra. I went ahead and made the finished edge of the fabric as the bottom of the ruffle so that no hemming was required. The only thing left for me to do is add some beads along the bottom of the ruffle to hide the edge and give it some glitz. The little feet that will be occupying these booties are truly happy feet. Always jumping and skipping, yes, she is not even two years old and skips through the house, which I might add is something I don’t get tired of seeing and could watch her do all day, as its such a sweet picture. I’m sure once the jewels are attached she will be stomping up a storm.
