I found my nitch…

handmade horse birthday party invitations

Here is a better picture than the last one, which was taken at night. They are birthday invitations. And below is a small preview of some note card ideas I have been working on. I had been doing crafting that I did not intend to share with anyone, but just me letting my hands do the work, without really thinking just doing what felt enjoyable and for no one but me. By the end of the week I noticed a pattern to what I loved doing. I never really noticed that I had a style or look, so I took a quick peek through my flickr pictures and I saw it, I think possible for the first time. It was as if I was looking through a strangers pictures. Does that sound crazy?  Has anyone else ever did this? You search and search for somthing but the moment you just let go, it appears. And I have a good feeling about it to. I have also had the thoughts like people will think this is childish or who would want something like that but then I have to take a deep breath and keep myself grounded. I am going to do what I enjoy and hopefully be able to share it with others but if not, I will enjoy it. And I do not want to loose those thoughts.  I hope to get a few more in this group finished and take them to a printer, maybe a few printers to get a quote, as I really don’t have a clue where to begin.

This is another work in progress project I have been working on. I have an idea of what I want it to be but  I’m just going to try an finish it first. There is still a lot that needs to be done. It’s pretty time consuming.

*Here is a cute blog that I have enjoyed for several months now, Zakka Mitten. Look back in there old post, they have some really cute things. And……

I would like to have one of her prints, like one of these on the wall. Her’s is the 2 larger ones. This image is from a Better Homes and Garden magazine.

Birthdays and Books

book calendar

I have went all year without my much needed calendar. Last year I thought I would try a different one but with no go. So, yesterday I ventured out to get my Amy KnappCalendar and I really missed it. This is the very best calendar ever, in my opinion. I still like to keep a wall calendar up just for quick glances at what day it is, but the Family Organizer, really is just that. When the book is opened up, it’s a week at a time. You have a menu planner on one side as well as a to do list that can be check off. The other side has nice big spaces for each day of the week and my favorite, a perforated shopping list. It even has stickers for doctor appt. and special days. If you want to look at the whole month, it’s at the beginning of the month or the whole year at a glance is in front of the book. It also has the regular extras like, address, notes, babysitter instructions. Oh how I missed this calendar…

There is one very special day that I couldn’t forgot even without a calendar and that is a cowgirls birthday, and it’s coming up soon. She is going to have a small party of just a few of her good friends. I’m sure they will have a root’in toot’in good time.

And while picking up my calendar, I couldn’t help but wonder into the kids section. I think I could spend just as much if not more time in the children books than the rest of the book store. My daughter really enjoys Junie B Jones books. I personally didn’t like them at first, but have grown to enjoy her larger than life personality. My favorite to date is, Peep in Her Pocket .  We laughed so hard reading this book.  Junie B. does get a little rough for a first grader with her words, like when she hates that meanie Jim, as she puts it. I usually just put in the word dislike or something. Any how, I thought this would be a perfect book for my fall birthday girl.

A close up of the party

 embroidery wagon full of animals

As requested, A close up of the party wagon. I apologize for the quality of the pictures. My camera has seen its days and it takes several pictures just to get a decent one. A new camera is on my list of must get but I just haven’t decided on one yet. Nikon or Canon?? There are so many out there, it makes my head spin. Any suggestions, pro or cons would be greatly appreciated.

embroidery elephant

You may not be able to tell from the picture but he is shaped like a snake, at least on one side. I took a bundle of thread in the thickness I want him to be and did a weaving embroidery over it, using a couple different colors of thread. It gave it a nice 3-D effect. This had originally been made for my header only it turned out, not wide enough for it’s height, even with cropping and resizing it wouldn’t fit and look right.

Personalized Potty training pants

“What color of big girl undies would you like”, I ask the 2 and half year old.

“OOrange and ellow” she excitingly replied. And she does know her colors so there is no fooling her. Not to mention anyone that asked, she told them she wanted oorange and ellow undies but Stores only sell white, pink or blue.

“You want to go potty like a big girl?” I said, Me jumping up and down like it was the next best thing to candy.

“NO, I don’t want IT.”  She firmly stated.

Yard sale finds

Labor day yard sales and the traditional towns swappers (flea market) day was good to me.  Here are just a few of the great finds I found on Monday.

Free, we took the drawers out to ship it safely.  The lady said it works, Free can you believe it.  We are going to make sure its safe and if it’s thumbs up, I’m putting it in my kitchen.

chenille bedspread and old quilt

Wonderful chenille bedspreads and an old quilt. Just a couple of dollars for all. The yellow queen size bedspread is in perfect condition. It all went with a bag of vintage fabrics, which I haven’t had time to completely go through. I also bought a milk glass candelier and some old baby toys for next to nothing and then the lady gave me this leather purse free, sort of rough around the edges but love it.

Can you imagine some lemonade on a hot day in these?

striped glass pitcher and cups

He was just to cute to pass up, not to mention next to nothing. And I have other things from this yard sale to show later. I think he will be finding a home in my living room.

squirrel planter

If I had know it was going to be this good, I would have started thrifting on Thursday.
