My day in pictures
Yesterday was one of those days where you feel good, things move along in a calm easy going manner (that was until my daughter came over to me with her purple popsicle while I was finishing up the bag which was a gift but it all worked out. I have been wanting a library bag for myself) so I thought it would be fun to document my day as it happened.

vintage clothing in a modern world
Just to warn you, this post has a lot of pictures.
I have always loved vintage clothing but never did anything about it but wish and doodle and think about it. There have been some wonderful old designs brought back to life in the every day stores and I’m loving it. Ebay is also a nice place to look but I’m afraid to buy vintage clothing without trying it on because they are so small, like Gunne Sax dresses.  The hard part always was seeing that the price tag is more than the purse holds or it shows a little more than the body wants. So, I decided to get a few book about historical and vintage clothing at the library, pictures of course.  I’ve always threatened to make my own clothes but maybe I should just jump in and do it.
I love the shape of these shoes.
And the blue sarafan that the lady on the left is wearing. The dress has a nice shaped and I like the full puffy sleeves that the dress has. The gold braids must go. I’m not much for gold. Â
This looks like something I would wear now and have. I even wear my hair like that a lot  but I really like the eyelet lace slip or petticoat that is showing and can be seen when you move around. I really want to add one of these to my wardrobe. And I just adore square collars…….
……and they look really cute on little ones too! This was actually a 3 month olds dress. It just happen to have large arm holes. PERFECT!!! So it became a summer shirt of a wee one.    And if you have already noticed my window has a lot of little hand prints. Yes, I do clean my windows but as you can see not before this picture. This spot ( at a 2 year olds level) on this window is the hardest to keep clean, and it doesn’t help that the door is right beside our dinning room table and the one we use to go outside. Â
I know this black outfit is a little much but the over all idea and look I like. As soon as I seen this some older fabrics I have came to mind.
like this
and this one. Maybe as trim and part of an apron up against a white or dark blue skirt???Â
I then have several yards of this silky like fabric, maybe a kimono? How about a robe. These all were in that free box I received a few years ago from the man that was cleaning out his garage. Some of you may remember me talking about that. I always wondered if it came from someone that was a dress maker, as there were several yards per print and a lot of satin. Move than what a quilter would need.
This is some sort of pleather ribbon with orange embroidery. This could become a belt on a orange skirt or dress. Maybe?? How about trim on the bottom of a skirt? Nah, to heavy for the bottom.  Does anyone know what this really is or has been used for?Â
Remember the orange seam binding I purchased at the thrift a while back? (I’m asking a lot of questions today) Any how, we have used it alot, but not as binding. School projects, scrap booking, pony tails,

kindness in this quilt
I have been slowly moving along on my quilt. A little here and a little there. It was exciting to see it sort of coming to life. I’m moving up to piecing 4 squares together. This month has been a great inspiration for keeping me on the quilting road. Our local library has been displaying quilts and talks and pulling all the quilt and patchwork books out for easy viewing. One of the quilts that really caught my eye was one that was shaped like one of the states and embroideried all over it was the underground railroad trails that where known. My family has some pretty big history in being a part of helping in the underground railroad. And here lately I have been thinking a lot about the past but that I will leave for another post.
Then our newspaper had a big article about quilting and a list of some wonderful displays for surface design and for charity. There is also a talk by fiber artist Gayle Pritchard author of Uncommon Threads.
This quilt I am working on should be called a kindness quilt because the generosity that people have been showing never seises to amaze me. Elea was inspired just like myself from the picture in the magazine and wanted to share some of her fabric as well as start one of her own postage stamp quilts. Thank you Elea. The package and little bundles were a delight as you can see.

All boys need a bag for there toys

This one is going to be filled with teething toys and yummy beginner eater snacks, which I think is perfect gift for a little guys who is just being introduced to the world of solid foods and a mouth with a few teeth. His mommy can fill it with other toys and library books when he’s a bit older. Speaking of library bags, I really need to make my self one as it seems I’ve been going to the library a lot lately and my few books at a time have turned into arm fulls and my little bag is just stretched to it’s limits. When I seen that ornery bear fabric I just had to get it and have been waiting to do something for a boy. I like how it turned out with the striped fabric.

AÂ COAK gift of fun music. My daughter and I have enjoyed it and danced the moring away to your tunes. Thank you Kelli, your a sweetie!Â
