A fabric box for a baby boy
The baby gift is done and now in the hands of some very excited super soon to be first time parents. I had been wanting to do a fabric box for a while. Instead of following direction I have in a japanese book or ones I’d seen online. I went out on a limb and did mine a little different. I wanted the lining to come over the top and creative a lined edge. If any one is interested in a tutorial just let me know?
I now want to make some for my home, But not sure what lining I am wanting? Maybe stick with a neutral so that it could go in any room at anytime? Or would that be to boring?
I had been looking at the mommy or daddy bird thinking that it’s head maybe needed something, when my son comes up. Takes a look at it and says, “It’s head to smooth, it needs something sticking up.” So I tried a scarf, bonnet, a few twigs of hair. The little bald head seem to appeal to me more. My husband would love to hear that line in the future. He still has his hair, just worries that it may be receding a little. Im afraid I doubt I will say that because he has a really lumpy head, Sorry Honey but I still love you. I think it was the simpleness of the birds that I liked most. Everything else seem to fight againt the pattern of the lining fabric. So bald heads they stayed.
Now I needed one more thing to fill up the basket. I thought of diapers but I didn’t feel like running into town and diapers are quiet expensive. I had some super soft blue fleece that reminds me of the cushy skin of a baby. And an elephant is always welcome here. So I folded the fleece. Drew out my shape. You see we had a few adjustment to make. A little taller, tail hanging down instead of sticky straight out which looked I thought quite silly and not so wide back foot. Then I sewed along my pen lines.
Turned inside out, added a tiny eye on each side and attached 2 floppy ears. Stuffed and sewed this cubby guy up.
Â
Popped him in the basket with the rest of the goods and off they went. I just hope mommy-to-be is just as pleased. Â

Doll house treasures

O boy, what a package I received. It couldn’t have been more prefect timing too. My daughter was having a little girl stay over, so when the package arrived Saturday morning and I invited them to help me open it. There eyes were lite up from it all. They each took turns opening a little package and sharing what was inside. We started into it before I thought to myself to take a picture, but I did get one before we got to far.

There were so many “look at this” and ooohhhs and aaaahhhhs. Such fun. I want to thank each of you for delightful wonderful treasures. Everyone of you did a fabulous job!! And Amy put together the most scrumpous package. A few of the tags because lost from the original so if any of you do not receive a personal thank you email from me, Please my apology because I didn’t mean to leave anyone out, as I loved it all.  Head on over to here to see the rest of the pictures.

Hugs all around for everyone. Thank you once again.

Another cork board project finished
This is the project I have been wanting to do for so long and it feels so good to finally have it finished. Inside the doors of our entertainment center they have these little spaces where the panels are. To optimize the space and be functionable, I measured them, cut the corkboard to fit. Sprayed the cork with glue, put the fabric on them and smoothed it out. If you don’t’ do this the fabric pulls and bunches. I then cut the fabric a little bigger than the cork, cut little squares out of the fabric in the corners, so that they lay down nicely. On some of them, I used my favorite glue, Fabri-Tac, on the others I used the spray glue. The spray glue went a lot faster but your fingers get all sticky by the time your done. And boy, is it hard to get that stuff off.  While the glue was still a little tacky, I stuck the fabric cover cork into the spaces on the inside of the doors. And we have a bullentin board thats cute. I wish my living room had more light so these pictures would have turned out a lot better but you get the idea. Have a wonderful day. Now off to get birthday presents, make a baby shower gift and finish up some thank you packages to some lovely people out there. sprucing up cork bulletin boards
I have been doing a little back to school organizing. To help keep things easy to access and see. I also wanted to add a little fun eye appeal to it all as well. So I painted my cork board. I really like the color but after I had it hung up, I think more of a deeper orange color would work better in the room. So maybe a re-paint wil be in the future.
I am so loving one of my kids lizard artwork. It’s one of those silly little things that just puts a smile on your face every time you pass it. Well, after seeing me paint my bulletin board, my daughter decided she wanted to paint hers too. She is in the process of a bedroom re-do. She now has red cherry curtains and a lamp shade with a little red in it, so she choose red as her paint of choice.
And the finished product, Cute huh? I don’t know if you can tell from the picture, it has white polka-dots. I suggested a blue dot here and there. And she was thrilled with it as blue is her favorite color. It’s also the color choice for her bedroom wall.
I have another cork board project, I’m working on right now. I’m using the cork you buy in the rolls. I’ve been wanting to do this one forever and excited to finally see if come to life. I’ll show you when it’s all finished, till then………
