Curling up with a quilt at Christmas
I was wanting to do that so bad but it’s not quite done. I’m almost done with it, Girls. I have been trying to set aside a little time each day for it. There are a few days, I woke up and that was the first thing I did, sew a few minutes on the quilt. I know if you look close you will see mistakes. I’ve actually noticed a lot of improvement in my patch working skills since I began. At first it really bothered me when things were a little off and I became frustrated. Debating whether to rip everything out and start over? I knew if I did that to all of them, I would lose heart and never start back so I worked with what I had. Only fixing the really bad ones. Hand sewing would have hidden my patch working errors a lot better but …… I’ve not only accepted that the quilt was made with love and friendship and a bit of flaws. It is my first quilt and true patchwork piece. So the best quality will be for my next quilt.
I’ve also learned a lot while working on it. I was also surprised about how I felt working on the quilt. I really wanted to do it from the beginning but I will be honest with you I thought half way through I would almost get sick of all those teeny tiny squares. Dont’ get me wrong I did take breaks from it and didn’t work much on it during summer vacation but now that the quilt is coming close to being done. I feel almost like going down the big hill on the roller coaster. Very exciting and going faster to reach the end.
Another little crafting I did the other day was this simple little bird. My little one asked for a bird. I told her Santa wouldn’t be bring her a bird. He does do real animals. She come back saying she wanted a small fake bird. And has repeated it several times. So here she is, Henriette. She is just missing her white pipe cleaner legs. That can be used to stand up on or wrap around her wrist so that little Henriette can perch on Little Roses arm.
And the holiday isn’t the same with out making sugar cookies and letting the kids spend the day decorating them. So here is what they did, well what is left of what they did. These are the only ones that survived long enough for the sun to come out so I could snap a shot of them.
And I caught this little one eating one this morning right after breakfast!
I hope each and everyone of you have a wonderful weekend and holidays. Where every you live and however you spend it.

wooden snow and fabric antles
When it snows what better thing to do than make snowmen…..
And we also spotted a deer just inside out door! Don’t worry he was very friendly. We found out his name was Vixen and he was to be in the Winter play. The wind is crazy here and we have more ice than snow at the moment. Hope everyone is warm and safe where ever you are in the world. And if your in a nice warm climate please send me some of your warm thoughts this way.

Good day for cupcakes and horse sock patterns

I can’t believe I haven’t posted since Thanksgiving. That seems like months ago! Well, I can say for sure, we are into winter as you can see from the picture below. This was the beautiful sky and trees that I saw this morning. So, what better day to stay inside where I’m warm with a cup of hot chocolate and cupcakes baking.

These cupcakes were baked with a food allergies child in mind using Cherrybrook Kitchen cake mix. And decorated by happy little helping hands.

There were several people that requested the pattern to the sock horse. The pattern is in the Horse Craft book that I borrowed from the library and wrote about a couple post back. But if you can’t find it at your local library and don’t want to purchase it. I put together a basic idea pattern from what I could remember from the book. If you need any help understanding my quick scribbles and notes just let me know. It’s pretty simple.
