I’ve been seeing red

Little red riding hood dress

Ok, Here are a few things I’ve been meaning to share for quite a while. This is the little red riding hood fabric dress I did back here. These were my first try at button holes. My button hole sewing machine foot was a little confusing at first. But once I figured out where to have the thread length & width. It was very simple. Push the petal and it did the rest. I was planning on doing a ruffle but changed my mind and added some panty-looms. I love panty looms. I was also going to add a bit of fabric on the front neck because I have the front and back panels switched. Yeap, that’s the back piece on the front. Once I got a white shirt under it..Well, it didn’t look bad at all. I did a little embroidery with some red thread around the collar of the shirt.  You can see it, if you look real close.

 A dress I made

She was having a bit of trouble sitting still. And I was racing against the clock to beat the storm clouds moving in. Plus I was hurrying so I could get into the garden to pick the beans before it showered down the rain. So, this was our 1 minute photo shoot.  Did you notice what she has in her hands. A little red riding hood and wolf finger puppets.

She can't sit still

And I’m feeling like red today so I have a few other fun finds to add to this post. This is a vintage head scarf. I love it. It was in a free box with a bunch of other things from around the 60′s. It’s the first I have ever seen that is slightly padded around the head part.

She’s my vintage house keeper. Now if I can just get her to actually clean. At least her bedroom.

And then these adorable shoes!!! I seen them and just had to take them home.  A fluffy A-line skirt made from white fabric with a bit of red design around the bottom. A white puffy sleeved button up shirt with a little red scarf around the neck. Can you imagine it? Cute, huh? And can you believe it, I found them at the dollar store of all places.

Between the pages of Artful Blogging

artful blogging Autumn 2008 issue

I hold the smooth textured cover of the new Artful BloggingAutumn 2008 issue between my hands.  I feel almost like I have fallen down a rabbit hole. And like Alice who ate the cracker and sipped the drink. One minute I feel so excited, I’m for sure my head will hit the ceiling and the next so humbled and low that I’m sure I will be tread under foot.  I am so floored and elated at the same time to be among these pages with so many other bloggers, creators, mothers and artists. And there is some AMAZING women in this issue.  I would never had thought that my blogging experience would have taken me down this winding paths that it has.  I have to admit when the editor contacted me to see if I would be interested in sending in a submission. My first thoughts were me? and then ME???  However, I bashed down that inner critic and embraced the joy of a new adventure. I can’t wait to see what’s around the next corner. What new friendships will be formed or what new craft adventure will be embarked upon.

So, If your new to my blog please say Hi. I would love to meet all you lovely new ladies!

Quilt pattern testers and random chatter

Warning, a lot of random chatter.

Ring of flowers

My emails finally working again. It did require me to get a new address. I’ll spare you the details. But it works. Yeah!!!!

I have some exciting new to share. It’s late so I’ll post it tomorrow.

I’ve had several people ask where I got my quilt pattern. I made it up as I went. I’ve been flipping through some real quilt patterns, trying to get an idea on how to write one. That way I can share the pattern with anyone who would like it. I was wondering if there are any experienced quilters out there that would like to give my pattern a test run before I make it available?

I also spotted what looked like little red riding hood, or maybe a vintage housekeeper, they left behind some shoes, so I’m thinking it could have even been Cinderella.  I’m not sure?  I’ll post the pictures this week and you guys can clear it up for me.

This weekend was such a HAPPY one for me. I seen several people that I hadn’t in a long time. It was so nice to be able to look upon them once again.

Maybe some inspiration will help out my email problem

I’m having email issues. The big guys are trying to figure it out. If you try to email me, more than likely, it will bounce. Saying that I don’t exist or just disappear into that spot where all the left socks are. I also can’t email out and everything in my inbox is completely gone. Sorry, if I haven’t gotten back to some of you, now you know why. But hopefully they’ll figure it out and fix us up.

So for now, I’ll leave you with some things that I’m really enjoying right now. Plus a few random pictures that were on my computer just because I like posts with pics.

These snow globes by Walter Martin and Paloma Munoz. I’ve never been a big fan of snow globes but these make me want to collect them.

Everyone should have one of these for their birthday.

The first and third picture I so love. I also want Jill Taylor, costume designer. to make me a whole new wardrobe just like Penelopes. The skirts and That coat!!!

Check Rachel work out. I enjoy her style.

I am ordering something from ESOULE. I absolutely love her work. However, the one I really would like to get my hands on, isn’t for sale.

And a free download of those Gratitude Wrap fro amanda. The idea of keeping thank you notes all in a nice little folder is a perfect idea.  I’ve got to make myself one. Maybe I’ll do a letter writing wrap too?

Eat Your Veggies

Do you have kids that don’t want to eat their vegetables? I have one that hates them, one that loves them and well, one that is sort of in the middle.

If I was a kid, I would eat all my vegetable with these cute little things looking up at me. Wouldn’t you?

Well, if eating veggies isn’t your thing, you can always sleep with them.

A little camping, a little screen printing and lots of visiting.

We just got back from a camping trip with several other families and friends. It was a much needed get away from the routine of everyday life. The fresh air, the sunshine (which inspired my journal page) and the sitting around the camp fire hearing funny tales from the past. The hot, gooey roasted marshmallows. The smores and burnt hot dogs.

hedgehog & turtle t-shirt

We had only two weeks to get the kids craft stuff ready for their show and the camping trip did take some time away from it. So, we soon started back in when we got home. This is what we did last night. Screen print some t-shirts for them to wear. I think they turned our real cute. My sister also stopped by for a visit when we got back and she did a little screen printing experimenting on her own.

I’ve got a few things I’m working on too but they are going to have to wait until after the show.

Cookies and Milk anyone?

I was planning on offering you cookies and milk but I spilt the milk.

Cookie and Milk

OH, wait. Look I found a cartoon in the frig.

What's in my frig

Cuteness is compliments of my little La Belle girl and La Belle boy. They are having so much fun making their crafts. And learning a little about running a business.  Future idea are already running around in their heads and dreams are being started. It gives me great joy to see them like that and hear there imagination in words. Who knows, maybe someday those small conversations will be where it all started. ”It all begin back at my first craft show at a young age.” They are even motivating me to step of the cliff with my dreams and take a chance.

Hope everyone enjoyed lollygagging around at there shindigs.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

 home made wooden stilts

Ours was full of fire works.

The all time favorite summer event of catching lighting bugs, in which my youngest keeps trying to convince me that she need to let them loose in her bedroom. That way they will make her room all sparkly at night.

And making and playing around on some home made stilts.

I also found out that we sadly knew most of the words in this newfangled book. L is for LollyGag. The graphics on the cover is what first prompted me to pick it up and it’s actually fun to have around. My husband must have a clever tongue as he uses Several of them on a regular basis.  He’s been the one remodeling my craft room, and anyone who has remodeled knows it’s hard to get things just square in which my husband would say. “It’s all kittiewampus” or “it’s being cantankerous” or even “discombobulted”   A few words that he uses that were not in the book are “I’ve caught the collarmobus” or “You’ve come down with the epizoodee”  Sometime it’s sounds like gobbledygook to me and I end up being flummoxed during the conversation. But I won’t hornswoggle him out of his fun.

The winds sent my skirt tail a flying.

Run away paper airplane

Well, the wind didn’t really send them a flying. I couldn’t think of a post title and I have a few things to ramble about. First is, Your party favor packages are flying your way. I’m a bit nervous, I hope you will like them as much as I do.  There something I really love doing. But I am little disappointed after having digital copies of them made. Plus the printer didn’t listen to my direction and they ended up being a little short. I didn’t notice till after I got home so there wasn’t much that could be done about it. Having them printed up on a press would have been much, much better.

My work in progress

And this is a work in progress. I spent the other day working on it. It just needs elastic, hemmed, a pocket and I’m going to try a ruffle on the bottom. This pattern and some other ones are a sew-along on Wondermommy. I don’t have much experience in sewing up clothes so I thought it would be nice to make something that had a tutorial to go along with it. Just in case I’m needing a little help. The tutorial really helped out in adding the lining. That was something I had never done before. The sew machine was just a smoking and I was on a roll and didn’t pay much attention and sewed the straps onto the front piece instead of the back piece. To fix it, I’m going to hand sew in a little piece of red fabric into the deep V instead of ripping out the straps and having to resew it all.  Getting it done before the weekend was my goal but it’s not looking like I’m going to have much time.  There are 2 kids here that are very excited about having there own vendors craft booth at the KIDZARTZ.  And boy has the fabric, stuffing, paper, buttons, thread been a flying. Some times literally. They are planning on making some softies, shrinky dink charms, buttons, and a few other things. I don’t know what to expect but I seen it advertised and mentioned it to them, they were all for it. I also like the idea that you could use an alias public vendors name instead of your kids real names. They couldn’t come up with anything that they both could agree on so I mentioned, The hedgehog and the turtle. They loved it. And I think it’s pretty cute myself.  It does have meaning behind it. I said my daughter reminded me of a little hedgehog when she was a baby and my son reminded me of a little turtle. Now, don’t take it like my husband did at first, Thinking I was making fun of my own little babes. I meant it in cute little way.  My own mom said I looked like a baby seal, but I think she really was making fun of me. ~KIDDING MOM~

 Kids work in progress

The hedgehog and turtle are also a part of our family rubber stamp for Letter Boxing.  If you don’t know about letter boxing. It’s basically you fill a box, which is usually waterproof, with a journal, a stamp that stands for your family and an ink pad. You hid it so that it can’t be seen by the public. Then go onto the web site and give clues on how to find it, making them however easy or hard you want. Then you go out looking for other peoples boxes, the clues are posted on the web site. Once you find it, open it up. Take your stamp images and stamp it into there journal. Then take there stamp image and stamp it into your journal. If there are a lot in your local area, it’s a fun thing to do with the kids and the only cost is the supplies and your time hunting for it. One big scavenger hunt.
